Close to the End

There is only one day left in this year we know affectionately as 2011.

Its been a good year for me, l've gotten more focused on my travel adventure, and in the mean time l've gotten to do a dry run by airplane.  I do love going from town to town for my job, l just don't like living in a hotel.  Don't get me wrong, the housekeeping aspect of it is great!  Never having to scrub a tub or make a bed is pretty close to heaven for me!

I would prefer to be able to have a kitchen where l can cook my own meals, have some of my favorite books on hand or at least my current favorite book, without being concerned l will go over the baggage weight limit. If there are kids running in the hall at all hours of the night, l could just move myself. With RV travel, l can do it at my own pace, not on pre-determined, pre-purchased flights.  Also, let's not forget, my two furry friends can accompany me on the adventure.

Am l looking forward to New Years Eve? No, not really.  Over the years l've worked too many NYE's when l was in the restaurant business.  It always seemed over-rated, over-priced, over-hyped.  I don't wait for the old calendar to be thrown out and a new one to be ushered in to make decisions to change my life, to quit this or that, l do it far to often to wait for  that one day that comes by every 364 days.

  1. Sounds like you indeed had a great year. And the year ahead will be even better!

For the first time in probably 25 years I'm actually going out for New Year's eve, to a friend's house and I'll be home before 10 but still it's a giant step for a loner like me.

Kind of curious to see how it turns out.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. Just a thought, apparently you don't have a kindle. All your books can go with you in hotels, but, could save you a lot of space in your RV which is limited based on not only bulk but weight.
    Enjoy your new choice,

  3. Maria, maybe you will surprise yourself and won't get home until the wee hours!!!!!

  4. Hello Mickey,
It was more of a metafor for all the stuff that makes your home your home, or your RV your home. I did just buy a Blackberry Playbook (at such a great price, was hard to refuse) and it has the Kebo App on it, l just downloaded a bunch of free books last night (all the classics). I really don't have any books left in paper, l've given them all away, except the two l am reading now.

  5. Hi Tammy, I can't remember where I found your blog but I find it interesting, especially, the changes that you are making in your life. We travel in our RV as much as we can, actually, I go on a lot of trips by myself and love every minute of it.

I'll be boondocking with about 100 other RV's in Quartzsite, AZ, for the BIG TENT event that comes every January. We have pot luck dinners most of the five nights that we gather. It's so much fun!

You mentioned in a previous post that you have made a decision that will happen in 'April'.... does that mean that are quitting your job? Going full-time in the RV?

Safe travels, your new blog reader...

  6. Hi Mark; I look forward to when l can join everyone at Quartzite for the winter. Yes, my D-Day is April, l will be leaving my current job and will be full-timing in my van.

  7. Tammy, you are going to have SO much fun! Can't wait to read you future posts and adventures.
