Wow, it's beautiful here. I opened my hotel door today to see mountains in the distance. The town is surrounded by them. Gunnison is in a little valley. The town is quite cute, with lots of character. The main street has flair and individualism. Some of the buildings are old but well kept.
I drove up to Crested Butte, the drive was stunning. The sun was shining off of the snow capped mountains. The rivers were flowing and some brave souls were running the rapids (brave l say, because it is a bit chilly today).
Mother Nature knows her job, and she does it well. Crested Butte is the Wildflower Capital of Colorado, l can only imagine how pretty that is in the spring.
Residents of Crested Butte say it is unusal to not have snow this time of year. It is a big ski town south of Aspen. With only 1000 full time residents that explode with tourist for the ski season and the summer hiking. I noticed so many campgrounds driving last night, and also between Gunnison and Butte. Everyone today l saw were very bohemian, a cross between a hippy and a bushman(woman). It's a very artsy town. Were the speed of life is just right!

The towns dwellings are mostly log, topped off with a metal roof, and are fitting to the rustic mountain.
