Well, Happy Birthday to me. It may have taken a while to finally not give "a rats ass" as to what other people think, but l think l have arrived. Of course clarity came the day Steve Jobs died and his Commencement Speech at Stanford University made the rounds on Facebook.
His whole speech was insightful and moving. I particularly liked this quote the best.
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be
trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking.
Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most
important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow
already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary" - Steve Jobs
So often we cave to what society expects. Who's to say that's right?
happy birthday
ReplyDeleteNot just society but moreso the people we're close to. It's rather easy to say the heck with society... not so much to a spouse, parents, kids, friends and other well meaning people who, despite their good intentions, have not a clue what WE want.
ReplyDeleteMaria very true.
ReplyDeleteHi Tammy ... recently came across your blog by following a link from who know where? (possibly from Glenn's blog at "to simplify dot net")? Anyway, wanted to throw some belated birthday wishes in your direction, and let you know that I'm enjoying getting acquainted with your blog. I tend to hop, skip and jump around a lot in the blog world, but I've marked your blog as one to watch. Good to "meet" you!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you to! I went over to your blog. You teased everyone by saying you were going to start writing again, that, or your choosing your next words with great care:-)
ReplyDeleteYou had 16 blogs at one time. WOW! I can't imagine where you found the time. I'll keep my eye to see if you ad more to yours. No pressure!
